‘Ms. Marvel’, a new Marvel Disney plus series, has dropped its first trailer, and it’s abysmal. If I were to judge the whole series on just the trailer, which I will, ‘Ms. Marvel’ looks like a really bad CW production. I completely forgot about this series until I heard that the trailer dropped. Speaking as a comic book fan, I have absolutely no interest, nor wanted any version of Ms. Marvel made into a movie or TV show. Ms. Marvel is a completely forgettable character that failed in the comic books, and is more than likely going to fail on Disney Plus as well. The past four Marvel Disney Plus series have not aged well, as each installment has failed worse than its predecessor. Kevin Feige and Bob Chapek are feeding fans a plateful of woke nonsense in these superhero TV shows, and ‘Ms. Marvel’ is more than likely, not going to be any different. We’ve heard that Bob Chapek was putting the hammer down, and making it mandatory to listen to what the fans want, but that sounds more like empty promises than actual reality. ‘Ms. Marvel’ will be just another example of Disney not understanding what the fans want. ‘Ms. Marvel’, in my opinion, will be the worst of the Marvel Disney Plus series to date, and that does not bode well for Disney’s reliance on new Disney Plus subscribers.
Fans Are Not Interested In a Ms. Marvel Disney Plus Show
The version of Ms. Marvel fans will see in ‘Ms. Marvel’, will be Kamala Khan. She debuted as the new Ms. Marvel in 2014 as Marvel’s first solo Pakistani-American superhero. The comic book was c0-created by Sana Amanat, herself a Pakistani-American. This new Ms. Marvel ran for 19 issues and had a hard time breaking the top 50 in sales, only seeing a peak in her debut, and a resurgence in the last few issues of that run due to appearances from other characters. The second run of the Kamala Khan Ms. Marvel, ran for 38 issues and was an abject failure, and couldn’t even break the top 100 in comic book sales. In addition to that, Marvel tried to revive the character with a Marvel Team Up title that failed after six issues, Magnificent Ms. Marvel, which was cancelled after 18 issues, and three volumes of Champions, led by Kamala Khan that were all cancelled as well. This character has done so bad, that Marvel Comics has no plans in reviving the character for a solo title. Point being, that your average comic book consumer was not flocking to the comic book store to purchase anything that featured Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel. Could it be that fans just want a good story that doesn’t focus so heavily on identity politics?
Social Justice In Comic Books Will Fail Every Time
Co-creator Sana Amanat, believes whole heartedly in representation in comic books, and has said herself that she always wanted to see a representation of herself in comic books. That sentiment is why comic books are failing, and specifically why Ms. Marvel failed to grab the attention of fans. Marvel and DC Comics have made it a priority, to inject the false narrative, that superheroes should be representative of every race and ethnicity, rather than telling stories that everyone can relate to. Ms. Marvel is just one example, among many in comic books right now, that have proven when you sacrifice story for social justice, you’re going to fail every time. Comic books are the quintessential escapism medium for fans. No matter their race or ethnicity, anyone who is a comic book fan, sees themselves as the main character defeating villains with their powers and abilities. When I read Master of Kung Fu Comic books, or Luke Cage, I wasn’t thinking about what race they were, I was thinking about kicking ass with their powers and abilities. This propaganda from mainstream media and companies like Marvel and DC, that think we need to be physically represented in any entertainment medium, is absurd.

Disney Has Forgot What Storytelling Is
This is why Disney Plus’ ‘Ms. Marvel’ is going to fail. This is why all of the Marvel Disney Plus series have failed with fans. Because of their obsessive need to focus on identity politics. Bob Chapek promised a relentless focus on the audience, when he announced his strategic three pillars to move Disney forward as a company. Granted ‘Ms. Marvel’ has been in production for quite some time before Bob Chapek released his strategic three pillars, but Disney Plus’ ‘Ms. Marvel’, in my opinion, is going to result in a lack of confidence in Disney and Marvel to produce anything the fans want to see. That sounds harsh, but considering the lack of caliber that Ms. Marvel represents with fans, would it be surprising to see ‘Ms Marvel’ as the last nail in the coffin for anything coming out of a Marvel Disney Plus series? Considering Bob Chapek and Disney are failing on all fronts from the Parks to media, ‘Ms. Marvel’ might end up being the poster child for Disney’s glaring lack of storytelling.
