The Self Inflicted Mess

The Self Inflicted MessOh boy!  This certainly has not been a good two weeks for Disney.  Bob Chapek is probably having a lot of sleepless nights trying to figure out a way to circumvent the self inflicted mess Disney has gotten themselves into.  Disney employees are up in arms about Florida’s parental Rights in Education bill, because they apparently think it’s ok for educators to be involved in teaching kids 4-9 about sexual orientation and gender identity.  Employees are accusing Bob Chapek of not doing enough to thwart this bill that protects young children.  Then there’s the new Galactic StarCruiser hotel debacle.  Disney is having trouble filling the 100 room hotel that costs $5,000 per couple and $6,000 if you add a kid for just two nights…which is mandatory.  Disney released its ‘Ms. Marvel’ trailer, that looks God awful, and has fans mocking it left and right.  And now, four Disney employees were arrested as part of a human trafficking sting.  One of those employees was arrested for sending sexual images and graphic description to an undercover detective posing as a 14 year old girl.  How is Bob Chapek going to address this one, seeing since he’s ignorantly opposed Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill.

Is Disney Family Value Oriented?

In a six day undercover operation by the Polk County Sheriff’s office, called “Operation March Sadness 2″, over 100 people were arrested for human trafficking, prostitution, and being child predators.  Four of these arrests were Disney employees.  Among them were Xavier Jackson, 27, who worked as a lifeguard at the Polynesian Village Resort, who sent sexual images and graphic descriptions of “what he wanted to do”, to an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl, and a 24-year-old Orlando man who worked at the Cosmic Restaurant.  Bob Chapek has got to be doing a face palm right now.  Especially considering that one of these employees was a child predator.  In light of Disney’s opposition to Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill, that protects young children from being taught about gender identity and sexual orientation in schools, and protects parents rights over their children’s curriculum, Disney can’t look as family value oriented as they proclaim to be.

Self Inflicted Wounds

That’s not all that Bob Chapek and Disney have had to contend with.  There’s also the penned letter from Disney Pixar employees that condemns Disney for omitting overtly gay references in their Pixar movies, and their lack of commitment to opposing Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill.

“We at Pixar have personally witnessed beautiful stories, full of diverse characters, come back from Disney corporate reviews shaved down to crumbs of what they once were. Nearly every moment of overtly gay affection is cut at Disney’s behest, regardless of when there is protest from both the creative teams and executive leadership at Pixar. Even if creating LGBTQIA+ content was the answer to fixing the discriminatory legislation in the world, we are being barred from creating it.”

“We are calling on Disney leadership to immediately withdraw all financial support from the legislators behind the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, to fully denounce this legislation publicly, and to make amends for their financial involvement.”

Why would parents want to subject their kids to these references in the first place?  These are movies supposedly geared towards kids.  It’s not Disney’s or Pixar’s place to be teaching or showing kids things about very adult topics.  The new Pixar movie, ‘Turning red’ for example, references puberty and periods.  Some parents were outraged, and said they never would have watched the movie with their young children, if they knew about those references ahead of time.  That’s Disney and Pixar being deceiptful with their audience.  None of ‘Turning Red’s’ trailers indicated these sort of topics in the movie.  So, these employees at Disney and Pixar are being selfish, and only thinking of themselves when they demand action for their causes.  These employees that work at Disney, are nothing more than activist bullies that won’t stop until they get their way.  I almost feel sorry for Bob Chapek…almost.  These are self inflicted wounds that could have been avoided, if Disney just shut the hell up, and didn’t bend the knee every time one of these radicals got their feelings hurt.  In addition, there are Disney employees that are staging a walk out, in protest of Disney not doing more to oppose Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature.  The walk out has been staged under ‘Disney Walkout’ on twitter, with more information and demands at whereischapek.com.  It is against everything this country was founded on, for a minority of the population to exact demands on the majority of the population.  That is fascism plain and simple.  But that is exactly what these lunatics are doing…and they are getting away with it.  The reaction to this bill, that protects parents and children, is out of control, and is dishonest.

A Star Wars Themed Hotel Not Performing Well?

Then we have an article from SFGATE, that covered the troubles Disney is having filling the 100 room Galactic Starcruiser Hotel.  SFGATE noted that there was plenty of availability from August through December, with some availability , including some weekends in June and July.  That’s pathetic, given the average family has to pounce on any other hotel months, sometimes a year in advance to get the dates that they want.  The Galactic Starcruiser hotel, also saw a rash of cancellations, when Disney released its poorly executed promo video, which has since been taken down.  With a mandatory two day stay, and a price tag starting at $5,000, and the bad reviews it’s getting on Twitter, this cannot be good news for top execs.  Some reviews were even saying it didn’t feel Star Wars themed at all, and referred to their experience similar to that of bingo night at a retirement home…ouch.  But what can Disney possibly expect, when the theme of this hotel is exclusively sequel trilogy related with no original trilogy characters other than Chewbacca.

Disney Can’t Get Out of the Corner They Boxed Themselves Into

All that and a Disney Plus ‘Ms. Marvel’ trailer that promises to give us another anemic superhero story filled with identity politics.  I know Disney’s diversity and inclusion message is like their anthem now, but there will be a point that making money and having quality content will matter.  All Bob Chapek has to do is not acquiesce to the Twitter mobs, and he would be doing just fine right now.  Just say no Bob, and you’ll watch all of this controversy melt away.  But, Bob is stuck in the corner of a boxing ring, getting continually pummeled, because he’s getting bad advice from his coaching staff.  If you keep feeding the monster, they will keep coming back for more, it’s that simple.  Most of these maniacs on the left are just looking for attention, and are narcissists.  This is not going to end any time soon, and we will just see Disney and Bob Chapek, continuing to unnecessarily grovel at the feet of radical activists.
