Netflix’s Stranger Things series, is a fun filled 80’s nostalgic driven romp, of pure escapism and storytelling. It brings me right back to that time of great music, Dungeons and Dragons, and the greatest decade of movies of all time. Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer announced release dates for season 4 and also announced that season 5 would be Stranger Things’ last season. The Duffer Brothers also hinted in their announcement, at possible spin off shows from the Stranger Things universe. It’s exciting news for fans of the Stranger Things series, who have been patiently waiting for almost three years, to see what has happened to Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Will, Nancy, Jonathan, Steve, Max, Joyce, and Jim Hopper. We hope it’s worth the wait.
Stranger Things is Just a Great Nostalgic Trip to the 80’s
The Duffer brothers who executive produce, write, and direct for Stranger Things, announced that season 4 will debut on May 27th, and that season 5 would be Stranger Things’ last. They also said that , because of the lengthy running time of season 4, it would be released in two volumes, with the second volume debuting on July 1st. Even though season five will be Stranger Things’s last season, there is a possibility of spin offs with other characters, as the Duffer brothers teased in their announcement.
“There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things: new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first we hope you stay with us as we finish this tale.”
I’m not sure what they could do to top the story they have told in Stranger Things, but it will probably be worth another nostalgic trip back into the 1980’s. The Duffer brothers created a show that re-energized a love of all things 80’s, without playing politics with their characters. Stranger Things is just pure unadulterated fun, that gives fans of that era, a chance to re-live memories of their own childhoods. They created a brand new universe without having to co-opt an existing one. That’s a rare talent in Hollywood these days, and should set the example for those “creators”, that think they’re being stunning and brave, by turning established characters into how they think the world sees them. I wasn’t referencing Amazon’s Rings of Power series…I swear. Let’s hope that the Duffer brothers can keep that 1980’s magic going and give us more of that fun storytelling.
