A new Stranger Things 4 teaser trailer has dropped and I couldn’t be more excited.  As a kid that grew up in the 80’s this show represented everything I loved about growing up in the 80’s.  From the opening scenes of season 1 where Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas are playing Dungeons and Dragons, and scenes where they are riding their banana seated bikes, to references to Ghostbusters in season 2, I was just taken away to that very special time.

The 80’s represented a magical time in entertainment

The 80’s represented a magical time in TV, movie, and music entertainment that I don’t think we will ever get back.  The 80’s were pure escapism and fun and that’s what Stranger Things has managed to capture since season 1.  And let’s not forget about that amazing soundtrack from Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein.  That opening score is brilliant and perfectly captures that heavy synth sound of the 80’s.

The season 4 trailer teases us with Eleven’s past

The season 4 trailer opens with children who have their heads shaved similar to Eleven from Season 1.  They are playing a variety of

brain exercise games when we pan out to a hallway and realize we are back at the Hawkins laboratory.  We see Dr. Brenner(played by Mathew Modine)walking down the hallway and entering the room where the children are playing these games.  The camera then pans around and focuses its attention on a room marked with the number 11 as we hear Dr. Brenner ask how the children are as they refer to him as ‘papa’.  Dr. Brenner then tells the children he has something very special planned for them and then asks very quietly if Eleven is listening as we see what appears to be Eleven waking up with a gasp.  I believe that this will be some sort of dream or flashback where we get more information on Eleven’s past and what happened to her while she was at Hawkins laboratory.

No season 4 until 2022

As with all of the Duffers’ scripts, we should expect a ton of Easter eggs and more questions than answers in season 4.  There hasn’t been an exact date confirmed but according to Kasey Moore over at whats-on-netflix.com, that we won’t be able to enjoy Stranger Things 4 until sometime in 2022.  You can read the full, in depth article here.  This show has managed to take us away to a time that was fun and allows us to escape for an hour and forget about the troubles of the world.  I cannot wait to see this and have just as much anticipation as I had for all the preceding seasons.  The writers and show runners Matt and Ross Duffer have managed to make this show woke free and hopefully, even considering the current climate, they will not bend the knee and we will see a season 4 that rates just as good as its predecessors.  But for now, we will just have to wait, with anticipation, for trailer 003/004 to get our Stranger Things fix.
