Pete Buttigieg is Going to Save Us

Secretary of the Department of Transportation Pete Buttigieg is going to save us from getting into a car crash, because it’s war out there on the highways.  Pete Buttigieg and the Department of Transportation introduced the National Roadway Safety Strategy, or NRSS, that has an ultimate goal of zero car crash fatalities within the next 10 years.  Seriously?  That’s like Biden promising zero deaths from Covid during his campaign…we know how that worked out.  And how are we going to get to those zero death by crash fatalities?  You guessed it…by addressing safety, equity, and climate change.  Apparently, traffic deaths are racist and affect people of color more than whites, having greener vehicles will help save the planet, and reducing vehicle driving lanes, in favor of bicycle and pedestrian lanes, will help keep those on our roadways safe.  You can’t make this stuff up.  When I read the entirety of the DOT’s strategy, I was laughing out loud at the ridiculousness of it.  But the sad thing, is that the Biden administration is dead serious about this, and the NRSS will just be another way of taking more of your freedoms and choice away.

The NRSS is About Control Not Safety

In the new NRSS strategy, the DOT uses a sneaky statistic that states deaths from traffic crashes, were up year over year from 2020 to 2021.  They were, except that the reason they were up, was because the country was locked down in those first six months of 2020 vs being opened in the first half of 2021. Of course there were going to be more accidents in the first half of 2021 vs the first half of 2020.  That’s just common sense.  No one was on the roads to get into an accident.  In order to combat the crisis of traffic accidents, the DOT will be instituting new regulations aimed at inhibiting your freedom on the roadways.  These include reducing speed limits across the country, improve the disproportionate affects that traffic fatalities have on people of color…especially black people, investing in automated devices that would shut your car off automatically, let’s say if you were inebriated, automated devices that would brake for you to avoid hitting a pedestrian, reduce traffic lanes for vehicles and increase them for pedestrians and bicycles, and incentivize local governments to have emission free only vehicles.  The strategy goes out of its way to single out trucks, crossovers, and SUV’s with ludicrous statistics as well, implying that they are involved in more accidents and are bad for the environment.  They connect this to vehicle safety by stating that reduced emissions will save lives from greenhouse gases.  Here are just some of the things outlined in the new DOT NRSS strategy:

“Traffic crashes are a leading cause of death for teenagers in America, and disproportionately impact people who are Black, American Indian, and live in rural communities.”

“An important area for U.S. DOT’s focus is the disproportionate, adverse safety impacts that affect certain groups on our roadways. For example, fatalities among Black people increased by 23 percent between 2019 and 2020 compared to an overall increase of 7.2 percent.8 People who are American Indian and Alaska Native have roadway fatality rates more than double the national rate on a per population basis.”

“To achieve zero roadway fatalities and a transportation system that is safe for all users, all actors in our transportation system must acknowledge and address historic and ongoing inequities. Law enforcement and the work of our Nation’s law enforcement officers are critical to the prevention and reduction of traffic-related fatalities and injuries. Traffic enforcement must have equity – the consistent, fair, just, and impartial treatment of all people – at its foundation. Under the Safe System Approach, efforts to make our roads safer should affirmatively improve equity outcomes. The Department will advance equity as an instrumental component of transportation safety and convene key stakeholders – government at all levels, law enforcement, advocacy, community organizations, and the general public – to develop both a better understanding of the intersection of equity and roadway safety, and a comprehensive approach to incorporating equity into all of the Department’s efforts to achieve zero roadway fatalities and serious injuries.”

“As climate change continues to re- shape our environment, its future effects on roadway safety will need to be taken into account. For example, weather events are expected to become more severe as a result of climate change. How we address adverse weather and roadway conditions may need to be adapted to effectively mitigate increasingly extreme weather events.”

“People who select climate-friendly transportation options decrease transportation-related emissions that contribute to climate change. Such reductions also can improve air quality and provide health benefits to those using and living near highways, roads, and streets with heavy motor vehicle traffic. Yet people walking and biking suffer disproportionately from serious injuries and fatalities when a crash occurs compared to people in vehicles. Moreover, fatalities among pedestrians and bicyclists have been increasing faster than roadway fatalities overall in the past decade, which has a chilling effect on climate-friendly transportation options such as walking, biking, or taking public transportation.”

They Must Think Americans Are This Stupid to Fall For This Nonsense

Then, to bolster their argument for more control over your transportation choices, there’s the statistic that more than 370,000 people died in transportation incidents in the last decade, and 350,000 of them were on the road.  That sounds extraordinary on its face, but is just dishonest and manipulative.  There’s always going to be more fatalities on the road than compared to air, water, and train, because there are exponentially more people driving than there are people flying, taking a train, or riding on a boat.  Of course it dwarfs all those other means of transportation.  But the statistic looks good, and serves their purpose of propagandizing the mindless drones who can’t think for themselves.  They also try to say that traffic accidents in rural areas of the country…meaning Republican areas…are disproportionately higher than the rest of the country per capita.  Well, duh!  of course they are…there’s less of a population in rural areas, so the statistic will seem higher.  They really must think we are as dumb as a box of rocks.

These New Regulations Will be About Limiting Your freedoms

Driving any kind of vehicle is a risk.  A risk that you sign up for when you take your road test and get your license.  You alone are responsible for the machinery you are operating and not some outside entity.  Also, how are traffic fatalities racist or discriminatory against people of color?  How does that even work?  Do people driving on the highways, at 60 plus MPH, seek out people of color, and decide to crash their vehicles into them?  Who does that even benefit?  Well, it benefits the left.  They think, if they can keep the big business and ruse up of systemic racism, that that will translate into more votes for them.  It’s discriminatory and shameful.  All these new regulations are being implemented to take away America’s freedom to travel as far as they want, in any type of vehicle they want.  It allows the left to control you while you are inside your own vehicle and keep tabs on you.  The left wants to control you even further by limiting how far you can drive, by mandating only electric cars be sold to you, instead of gas guzzling SUV’s, that can take you hundreds of miles before you need to fill up in minutes, as opposed to an electric car, that takes hours to charge before you’re on the road again.  You need to look no further than New York State, or California, to see Buttigieg’s plan already coming to fruition.  New York Governor Kathy Hochul, is mandating 0 emission vehicles be the only ones available within a few years, automatically forcing you to purchase an electric car if it’s a new car purchase.

How Much Freedom Are You Willing to Give Up?

Secretary Buttigieg’s plan for 0 traffic crash fatalities is an absurd goal.  It’s not feasible and can never logically be achieved.  Accidents happen and can’t be avoided no matter how hard we try.  I guess unless Buttigieg wants to rid the planet of all cars, SUV’s and trucks it might be possible.  Maybe that’s the plan.  Let government seclude us and keep us safe.  Read Agenda 21 by Glenn Beck, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. Just saying.  Americans don’t like to be controlled.  We were founded on our freedom and ability to make our own decisions and choices.  Having the government forcing what kind of car we’re allowed to drive, or the government choosing what roads we are allowed to drive on because it would be better for the environment, or limiting the distances we are allowed to drive and at what speed, or controlling when we brake our cars to avoid disaster, is the kind of control that leads to bigger control.  Look what happened to us during the Covid lockdowns, that some States are still going through two years later.  The government is telling us that they know what’s better for us, and that’s not the path we should be taking.  I’m reminded of the movie ‘Minority Report’ where the government developed a program that would anticipate if you were going to commit a crime and arrested you for it, even though you never actually committed the crime.  How much control of your life are you willing to give up, before you wake up and it’s too late.
