Antiviral Paxlovid Being Purposely Delayed?

Antiviral Paxlovid Being Purposely Delayed?Pfizer has developed a new antiviral drug that reduces hospitalizations and deaths from Covid infections.  The new drug, Paxlovid is in a convenient pill form, and has proven in studies, that when taken within a three day window of the first sign of symptoms, hospitalizations and deaths are reduced by a dramatic 89%.  Pfizer applied for an emergency use authorization over a month ago, but the FDA, CDC, and the Biden administration are sitting on their hands.  So, is the antiviral Paxlovid being purposely delayed?  Why are the Biden administration, the FDA, and the CDC sitting on their hands, when this drug could potentially save thousands of lives?  Because the Biden administration and the CDC are more concerned with the propaganda of preventing infection through failed vaccines, than actually mitigating a virus that’s not going away.  Covid is here to stay, just like the Flu, and we have to just deal with it, in the same way we dealt with the Flu.  The difference being, we didn’t shutdown the country for 21 months and counting because of the Flu.

No Deaths From Covid Among Those Who Took Paxlovid

Paxlovid has proven itself, in clinical trials, a better fighter against hospitalization and deaths, vs its UK competitor Molnupiravir which only reduced hospitalizations and deaths by 50%.  According to pharmaceutical-technology.com, hospitalizations and deaths were reduced when taking Paxlovid within 3 days of the onset of symptoms.

“Paxlovid is a combination of Pfizer’s investigational antiviral PF-07321332 and a low dose of ritonavir, an antiretroviral medication traditionally used to treat HIV. The treatment disrupts the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in the body by binding to the 3CL-like protease, an enzyme crucial to the virus’ function and reproduction.”

“According to an interim analysis, Paxlovid reduced the risk of Covid-19-associated hospitalisation or death by 89% in those who received treatment within three days of symptom onset. The drug was found to be so effective – just 1% of patients who received Paxlovid were hospitalised through day 28 compared to 6.7% of placebo participants – that its Phase II/III trial was ended early and regulatory submission to the FDA was filed sooner than expected. Moreover, while 10 deaths were reported on the placebo arm, none occurred among participants who received Paxlovid.”

So why the delays in getting Paxlovid into Covid patient’s hands?  Well, according to CDC director Rochelle Wolensky, Paxlovid is another great tool in the toolbox, but we should be focusing on not getting Covid first.

“So another great tool in our toolbox, but the best way to protect yourself against COVID is not to get it in the first place.”

The EUA for Paxlovid Should Have Been Approved Weeks Ago

Paxlovid shouldn’t just be another tool in the toolbox.  If the Biden administration is so concerned about getting the United States back to “normalcy’, then Paxlovid should be the first line of defense in preventing deaths.  The Covid vaccines are not working and the vaccinated are spreading Covid just as easily as those who are not vaccinated.  But we have Dr. Anthony Fauci this week, in response to a question about the “dreaded” dud Omicron, stating that if more Covid booster shots are needed, then we are just going to have to deal with it.  Instead of having to just deal with more and more boosters, because of waning vaccines, why don’t we just deal with the fact that Covid is here to stay, and try to alleviate unnecessary hospitalizations and deaths.  Paxlovid should be the main topic of discussion, and congress should be working today to get a month old EUA approved.  The FDA has information on Paxlovid since October.  In addition, states like New York and California, where we are seeing the strictest mandates and highest infection and death rates, should be begging congress and the FDA to approve the EUA for Paxlovid.  New York Governor Hochul last week, stated that she shares New Yorkers frustration with getting back to normal.  Does she really?

Biden and the CDC are Pushing Vaccines as the Only Solution Out of the Pandemic

The Biden administration can’t push Paxlovid or any other antivirals or monoclonal antibodies, because it has invested itself so deeply in the vaccine.  If Biden were to back down now it would make him a loser on all fronts(not that he isn’t already).  It would also take away the one distraction, albeit a weak distraction, he has had at his disposal, to deflect from the absolute chaos he is putting this country through.  It is interesting to note that the Biden administration has secured 10 million doses of Paxlovid from different suppliers.  Could that be for use or just so no other countries that want it, can have it?  Just a thought.  I’m no fan of any of the pharmaceutical companies, and I always think they care more about profits than what’s good for the public…but, if Paxlovid is a game changer for preventing deaths and hospitalizations, then congress should act now.
