Disney, Pixar, and Bob Chapek are once again bending the knee, and caving to an intolerant left. In response to a joint letter from March 9th, that alleges censoring of gay content in Pixar movies, a previously deleted scene in the new Pixar movie ‘Lightyear’, in which a lesbian couple share a kiss, has been restored. ‘Lightyear’, the new animated movie from Pixar studios, releases nationwide June 17th, and stars Chris Evans as Buzz Lightyear and Uzo Aduba who voices a female character named Hawthorne. ‘Lightyear’ will be an origin story of the character Buzz Lightyear, made famous from the Toy Story movies. The letter, alleging censored LGBTQ scenes, was in response to Disney’s handling of Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill, which prevents educators from teaching kids up to age 9 about gender identities and sexual orientation. Instead of being respectful of parents rights, however, members of the LGBTQ community have decided to make demands on the majority of the population that only affect a minority of the population. Disney has backed themselves into a fascist political corner with no way out.
Employees Claim Disney Executives Are Censoring Gay Content
In an article from Variety, employees at Pixar, allege scenes of affection between gay people have been purposely censored by Disney executives. On March 9th, in a joint letter from LGBTQ employees at Pixar to Disney, there are demands to allow gay content in Pixar’s animated movies. The letter claims that there has been gay content in previous Pixar movies, such as ‘Onward’, ‘Luca’, and ‘Soul’, but that they were overtly censored by Disney executives. The claims, however, have never been backed by actual proof, and Disney has not commented.
“According to multiple former Pixar employees who spoke with Variety on the condition of anonymity, creatives within the studio have tried for years to incorporate LGBTQ identity into its storytelling in ways big and small, only to have those efforts consistently thwarted. (A spokesperson for Disney declined to comment for this story.)”
“But none of the sources who spoke with Variety could cite first-hand knowledge of Disney executives directly cutting LGBTQ content from specific Pixar features. Instead, the examples from “Luca,” “Soul” and “Inside Out” were purportedly driven either by the individual movie’s filmmaking team or by the studio’s own leadership. Effectively, Pixar engaged in self-censorship, say these sources, out of an abiding belief that LGBTQ content wouldn’t get past Disney review because Disney has needed the films to play in markets traditionally hostile to LGBTQ people: namely China, Russia, much of West Asia and in the American South.”
Capitulation is Not Enough
Even though Disney and Bob Chapek have capitulated, to the tune of a five million dollar donation to the Human Rights Campaign, and a call to Ron DeSantis stating their disapproval of the Parental Rights in Education Bill, it was still not enough for this small minority of the population. The Human Rights Campaign has refused the donation by Disney, until more meaningful action is taken against Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill, and those like it around the country.
“The Human Rights Campaign will not accept this money from Disney until we see them build on their public commitment and work with LGBTQ+ advocates to ensure that dangerous proposals, like Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay or Trans’ bill, don’t become dangerous laws. While Disney took a regrettable stance by choosing to stay silent amid political attacks against LGBTQ+ families in Florida — including hardworking families employed by Disney — today they took a step in the right direction. But it was merely the first step.”
Where’s the Evidence of Political Attacks Against Disney Employees?
The LGBTQ community and HRC claim that there are continuing political attacks against LGBTQ families in Florida and employees of Disney. Where’s the evidence? Why aren’t HRC and employees of Disney showing us proof of these ongoing attacks, so we can address them? Because there is no proof, and leftist organizations like HRC just throw these accusations out there, to further their political narrative. Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill protects children and parents rights concerning their kids’ education. That’s it. That’s not a harmful law. If anyone is being intolerant, it’s the LGBTQ community. They are making demands of multi billion dollar corporations to heed their demands, less they face cancellation. They are forcing the majority of the population to accept their ideologies, and that’s outright fascist behavior. The majority of the population doesn’t have to like or even agree with your ideology or way of life. We still live in a free America and have that right. But in their warped minds, they think that’s an affront and discriminatory. As a result, we get companies like Disney acquiescing to their demands, blatantly ignoring the rest of the population, that just wants to be entertained and spend some money on their product.

Just Say No to the Unhinged Left
The restored kiss between a lesbian couple in ‘Lightyear’, is just another example of how much Disney doesn’t understand the majority of their audience. Parents want to be able to take their kids to a movie devoid of diversity and inclusion, and just want to be entertained. But instead, Disney has inserted themselves into a political minefield, that they can’t navigate their way out of. Disney would do best to stay out of the political cult the left has become, if they ever want to be successful again. They have joined a very polarized argument, instead of being the escape from that polarized argument. As a result, Disney is losing on every front of their business. The new Galactic Starcruiser hotel is failing to book rooms, their Marvel Disney Plus shows are forgettable and failing worse with every new debut, Star Wars is a failed franchise, and they haven’t had a box office hit since 2109. ‘Lightyear’ will just be another example of Disney not getting it right. If the rumors are true, and there are scenes of gay affection in ‘Lightyear’, a lot of parents might be discouraged from exposing their kids to such an adult topic. The result, might be another poor performance at the box office for Disney, and more importantly more fans turning their backs on the Disney brand. Disney just needs to say no to the self involved, intolerant left, and go back to being a company that wants to entertain. But that’s wishful thinking at best.
