The Future of The Flash

The Future of The Flash TV show might be in question as two of its stars exit after the end of season 7.  According to an exclusive from‘Deadline’, stars Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes will be exiting the show at the end of season 7.  That doesn’t bode well for a show that has been in decline for that past few years and has succumbed, willingly, to episodes that feature a diminished Barry Allen/Flash in favor of woke politics and intersectionality.

The Flash’s Ratings Have Been Dropping Since Season 5

Just look at season 5 where Barry Allen/Flash was virtually non-existent or important to the storyline.  The Flash, which has been a moderate success since 2015, has seen its rating drop consistently since season 5.  Season 5’s episode 1 saw 2.075 million viewers,

season 6’s episode 1 saw 1.62 million viewers, and season 7’s episode 1 saw 998,000 viewers.  You can view the full ratings chart at tvseriesfinale.com.  They are an amazing site if you are looking for detailed analysis of todays TV shows.  Flash’s viewership, in its debut episode from season to season, has dropped in half from season 5 to season 7.  Even if you look at last year compared to this year the show has dropped from an average .44 in the 18-49 demo to a meek .25 thus far this season in that same demo.   The 18-49 demo is your bread and butter who buys the products that are advertised.  The last episode which aired on May 4th, only had 736 million viewers.  That’s pathetic for the front runner of the Arrowverse and probably means even worse ratings as two of its main stars exit.

Fans Are Leaving Because Of Political Ideology

Fans are leaving this once wonderful show because they are sick and tired of watching their superheroes be dismantled in favor of political ideology.  I, for one, left after season 5 because of the reasons stated above.  Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes’ characters have given this show a much needed break from the shows soap opera feel, and helped the show feel a little more anchored with their storylines.  With that anchor gone, I don’t feel like the shows remaining stars in Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, or Jesse Martin can keep the show afloat given the CW’s penchant for demeaning the character of the Flash with its woke politics.  The CW has managed to destroy much beloved DC characters and The Flash is just another victim of the CW’s political agenda.  The future of The Flash, with Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes exiting after season 7,  is a clear sign, to me at least, that season 8 will be the Flash’s last.
