No Allegiance to America

Well, it looks like the second season trailer for Superman and Lois has dropped, and I have to say, I’m a bit concerned.  The first season was damn near perfect for a CW show, and veered away from CW’s typical woke politics that have all been aimed at making sure diversity and inclusion are at the forefront of everyone of their shows.  But, it looks like the same thing might happen to ‘Superman and Lois’ if the trailer is to be believed.  Apparently, Superman has no allegiance to America.  Superman specifically says in the trailer that his allegiance is to the world and not to America.  That is a nod, by the CW, to what has happened to Superman in the comic books.  I’m not surprised in the least, but was hopeful that someone with some courage and knowledge of the Superman character was in control of that show…apparently not.

Why is Superman Being American a Problem?

In the trailer, Superman is confronted by Lt. Mitch Anderson, Superman’s new Department of Defense handler, who clearly doesn’t understand why Superman’s allegiance isn’t solely to the United States.  Superman responds by saying “What you ask for is my allegiance to America.”, and then adds that he gave his allegiance to the world a long time ago.  I think you can have allegiance to the country you were raised in at the same time you help the rest of the world.  Superman was raised in a small town, in Kansas, by American loving parents with mid west American ideals.  In episode one of the first season, Superman thanks a kid for complimenting his suit that his mother made him.  That suit, with the black behind the red S, paid homage to the Max Fleischer Superman serials from the 1940’s.  It doesn’t get any more American than that.  So why is it so necessary for the CW to denounce Superman’s allegiance to the country he was raised in?  To score political points with the radical left who could care less?  What the CW is doing, is flipping the middle finger at half of its audience, that have grown up with Superman, and have a fondness and loyalty to how he is portrayed.  Superman is American, and always has been.  Why is that so distasteful to those on the left?  Because America has been propagandized as a white patriarchal society that is to blame for all the ills in the world and in the United States.  It’s a shame, and it’s disappointing.

Superman and Lois Will Inevitably Go Woke

The show runners for the CW superhero shows are political activists, invested in showing young kids who watch these shows, how stunning and brave they can be because they are one with the diversity and inclusion cause.  Shows like ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’, and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ all started out really great and had lot’s of potential, but the CW couldn’t resist using those shows as platforms to tell us how bad white men can be.  I really hope I am wrong, and that’s all we’ll see of the political agenda, but the CW already has a pretty consistent precedent for that kind of woke propaganda.  ‘Superman and Lois’ will still be worth the look, but instead of looking forward to every weeks episode, I’ll be waiting for the other shoe to drop as the CW inevitably destroys another potentially great superhero show.
