If New Yorkers were in doubt about the direction Kathy Hochul was going to take New York, legislation was signed into law last week to get rid of the “outdated” term inmates, when referring to prisoners, and instead will now be called incarcerated individuals. So, the term “inmate” hurts feelings? Was there a survey taking among inmates that was so profound, that immediate action was needed? This along with redefining women who can get pregnant as birthing people, so as to be more inclusive with the LGBTQ community, and taking references to mother and father out of the House of Representatives proceedings, are just some examples in a long list of rewording and redefining of American norms from the Democrat radical left. Kathy Hochul is wholeheartedly in that camp, and the idea that a felon who breaks the law, sometimes violently, needs to have their feelings protected, and not be called an inmate, is preposterous and insulting to the average New Yorker and American. Kathy Hochul should be focusing on the skyrocketing crime rates in her state, rather than protecting the felons who are committing those crimes. But why listen to what New Yorkers actually want? Because Kathy Hochul is just one in a long line of Democrat activists who think they know what’s better for you than you do.
We Must Protect the Dignity of Criminals
On Monday of last week, Governor Kathy Hochul signed the new terminology into law arguing, that not using the term inmate, would “reduce harmful stigma against incarcerated people by correcting outdated terminology.” Doubling down on the new terminology, Hochul used more terminology to not hurt the feelings of inmates, by stating that “justice involved individuals” will in effect make New York’s streets safer, by allowing them to finish their rehabilitation programs and work at the same time, while preserving their dignity.
“In New York, we’re doing everything in our power to show that justice and safety can go hand-in-hand. We can make our streets and communities safer by giving justice-involved individuals the chance to complete their rehabilitation program and work at the same time. By treating all New Yorkers with dignity and respect, we can improve public safety while ensuring New Yorkers have a fair shot at a second chance.”

Kathy Hochul and the Democrats are Out of Touch
She can’t be serious. These are criminals that broke the law. They didn’t care about the feelings of the individuals or businesses they were violating. Those criminals are in prison because they broke the law. It’s that simple. Do inmates/prisoners deserve a second chance? Sure they do, but that depends on the crime. Did they kill someone or steal something from a convenience store? That’s a wide spectrum with a lot of grey. But to protect their feelings, when they didn’t care about the feelings of the people and businesses they were violating, is just plain absurd. You do the crime you do the time, and protecting inmates from some false notion that a word is going to hurt their feelings, just exemplifies how out of touch and enabling Kathy Hochul and her Democrat party is with what’s going on in the streets of her cities.
Calling Them Inmates is Demoralizing
The author of this new law, Senator Gustavo Rivera, said that the focus should be on rehabilitation, rather than punishment, and that referring to incarcerated individuals as inmates, was demoralizing and dehumanizing.
“For too long, we as a society have thought of incarcerated individuals as less than people. The use of the word ‘inmate’ further dehumanizes and demoralizes them. This is another concrete step our State is taking to make our criminal justice system one that focuses on rehabilitation, rather than relying solely on punishment.”
Before you know it, we’ll be letting these criminals back on the streets without serving any jail time. Oh, wait…we are already doing that. The inmates have taken over the asylum from willing participants in Albany.

Protecting the Feelings of Inmates is Just the Beginning
This new law protecting the feelings of criminals, perfectly defines kathy Hochul’s views on New York’s broken justice system that enables criminals repeat bad behavior. The people that should be protected, are the citizens of New York. Those are the ones that are feeling the ramifications of a pro criminal and anti-law justice system on a daily basis. If Kathy Hochul wins in November, it will only get worse. The woke, tyrannical governing of Kathy Hochul we’ve seen so far, will just be the beginning, and protecting the feelings of inmates is just the tip of the iceberg for what’s coming down the pike.
