New York States booster mandate for healthcare workers, that was to take affect Monday, has been scrapped, and will be reassessed in three months. With an already almost 32,000 healthcare employee shortage from previous vaccine mandates, the New York Health Department did not want to risk even more shortages, and thought it would be wise to hold off on the mandate. With an already stressed healthcare workforce, Kathy Hochul and Democrats can’t risk unpopularity with upcoming elections. That said, I think Kathy Hochul and New York Democrats have more to worry about with outraged parents, who are concerned over their kids still being mandated to mask up. The booster mandate for healthcare workers, along with the vaccine mandate, was another ridiculous decision, on probably the most qualified in our society to make intelligent choices regarding their medical well being. Also, were the mandates ever necessary to begin with? Kathy Hochul could have avoided the healthcare staffing shortage by not mandating vaccines, and letting that portion of the population decide what was best for them. But, Kathy Hochul and New York Democrats are still trying to cling to that control.
The Healthcare Staffing Shortage Could Have Been Avoided
According to the New York State Health Department, 31,858 healthcare workers across the State, were either terminated, furloughed, or resigned, because they wouldn’t comply with the mandate. This caused Governor Kathy Hochul to enact a statewide disaster emergency order, which allowed New York State to bring in the National Guard and outside entities to help alleviate the staffing shortages. Again, something that could have been avoided if Democrats like Kathy Hochul used a little common sense and logic. But, that’s not in the Democrats purview. They’re great at one thing, and that’s creating chaos. I digress. As the booster mandate loomed, and more shortages were expected, State Health Commissioner Dr. Mary T. Bassett, announced a pause on the booster mandate.
“The vaccine and booster are critical tools to keep both healthcare workers and their patients safe, and we continue to urge everyone to get vaccinated and receive a booster dose when eligible. While we are making progress with 75% of staff received or are willing to receive their booster, the reality is that not enough healthcare workers will be boosted by next week’s requirement in order to avoid substantial staffing issues in our already overstressed healthcare system. That is why we are announcing additional efforts to work closely with healthcare facilities and ensure that our healthcare workforce is up to date on their doses.”
New York and The United States Will Never Get to 100% Vaccinated
Pausing the booster mandate is a good thing, because it’s not necessary. Almost everyone in the country has been infected with Covid, thanks to the Omicron variant. Almost everyone has developed some sort of immunity to this virus, whether through vaccines or natural infection. Natural immunity, which has become a scientific and social pariah, despite numerous reports to the contrary. But, even the insanity from the left on Covid is beginning to wane. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the flip flopper in chief of Covid, has waffled on natural immunity, along with the CDC who have reported on its effectiveness, but have come short of recommending it as an alternative to the vaccine. But Democrats will never admit defeat, and instead will give us word salads about how they were following the science, and that booster mandates should be encouraged at the local level, etc, etc. You’re not going to get to 100% vaccinated or boosted in a viscerally divided country when it comes to forced medical procedures…good luck.

Get Rid of the School Mask Mandate
It’s almost as if we didn’t have to mandate any vaccines, and immunity to this virus would have naturally taken care of itself. We could have avoided all the drama around the mandates, had a little faith and trust in the American people, by not mandating the vaccines, and let the American people make that choice all by themselves. Huh, go figure…logic. New York State Democrats having to concede the booster mandate is not, by any means an acknowledgement of logic and science. The only reason they are not mandating the booster, is so they can help plug up potential losses in November from an already doomed election cycle for Democrats. They don’t really care if they lost more healthcare workers or not. They would just suck up more resources from other States through Hochul’s emergency order. It’s an election year, and they need to score some points, however few they may be. Also, Governor Hochul and the Democrats better be thinking about the kids and masks if they have any hopes of winning in November. If there’s any mandate that should be let go of, it’s the mask mandate for school children. Parents are fed up as it is, and if San Francisco, Virginia, and Los Angeles, are any kind of a signal as to just how fed up they are, Democrats are going to lose big in November, including in New York.
