Join the Army…of Wokeness! A new recruitment ad from GoArmy debuted and I couldn’t help but think how far we’ve come from being the example in the world to now the joke of the world. The new recruitment ad from GoArmy will definitely be used by our enemies to show how weak we are when it comes to our military. The ad is part of an animated film series called ‘The Calling’ and is a walk through five different soldiers’ lives and what their inspirations were to sign up for service in the Army. I’m not going to denigrate the soldiers who signed up to serve their country because we should all be proud of all of our servicemen. But, no where in that first recruitment ad, does the soldier or the Army say that they joined the Army to serve and defend the United States. The soldier says she did it because it gave her purpose, “a way to prove her inner strength and maybe shatter a few stereotypes along the way”. The soldier also states that she was inspired by a country that defended gay rights. I’m sorry, and some people will get triggered over this, but our enemies are not going to care about our LGBTQ issues. They see us as an enemy and want to eliminate us and it’s that simple.
The Politics of Diversity and Inclusion Don’t Belong in the Military
With that first ad, the Army brought politics into our armed forces where it should never live. I’m not blind, politics are in our armed forces, but it’s politics of power, not politics of representation to make it easier to reach certain stereotypical demographics. The idea behind the ads, according to Maj. Gen. Alex Fink, head of Army Enterprise Marketing, was to dismiss common military stereotypes.
“Similarly, youth don’t necessarily connect with those who serve or see common ground in terms of interests, abilities, and goals. ‘The Calling’ shatters these misperceptions by showing that Soldiers are all of us: real people with hopes, dreams, fears, aspirations, families, friends, and obstacles to overcome,” he said.
Recruitment is Going to be Treated Like Affirmative Action in the Workplace
The ad itself looks like a Disney/Pixar produced animated short that makes you feel all warm and cozy inside. The GoArmy ad has it all backwards and is treating recruitment like affirmative action in the workplace where we have to make sure we hire by the numbers rather than by the talent and drive. Since the ad debuted, it has been ratio’d on Youtube with 88,000 dislikes to 4200 likes. Comments were also disabled according to Laura DeFrancisco, public affairs chief for the Army Enterprise Marketing Office because they were concerned for the safety and well being of those serving.
“Beginning May 12 we started noticing a significant uptick in negative commentary,” Laura DeFrancisco, public affairs chief for the Army Enterprise Marketing Office, told Army Times. “The comments violated our social media policy and were not aligned with Army values. Out of respect for the safety and wellbeing of our soldiers and their families, we have disabled the comments.”

Comparatively, China and Russia both have recruitment ads out that make ours look very pathetic and amateurish.
Senator Ted Cruz condemned the recruitment ad on Twitter saying that the woke media and Democrats are making our military look like pansies.
Our military is the best in the world and second to none. If the marketers for our military continue to advertise and represent our military as weak then our enemies will too. A strong military doesn’t mean it’s a bad military. Peace through a picture of strength will always win against our enemies who might otherwise want to do us harm. I hope the Army saw how much that recruitment ad was disliked and rethink what our military should look like.
