Americans Have Had Enough

In a new poll from Monmouth University, 70% or 7 out of 10 Americans have agreed that Covid is here to stay, and that we should all move on with our lives.  Americans have had enough.  The poll also indicated that President Biden’s response to Covid has been poor, after he campaigned on getting Covid under control.  The Omicron surge is waning with cases and hospitalizations dropping rapidly, as was expected with the weaker variant.  The American people, are over the continued push to extend an emergency over Covid, that no longer exists.  Even Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell has called for an end to mask mandates and vaccination papers, saying that millions of Democrats have made Covid the center of their identity as progressives. Meanwhile, you still have States like California, New York, and Illinois, enforcing and extending mask mandates for businesses and schools, with no end in sight.  Americans are sick and tired of the control and fear tactics around a virus that isn’t going anywhere.  It has become controversial to express your non sanctioned, educated opinion on anything Covid related, less you be banned from society.  This coming from the left, who in the past, have historically been the party of freedom of speech.  But now, censorship is labeled as misinformation, with social media giants like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, flying that flag like a badge of honor in ethics.  Just look at what happened to Joe Rogan this week, to Michelle Malkin and Air BNB, and Dan Bongino and YouTube, and countless others, who have just challenged the so called authority on vaccines and mask mandates.

It’s Time to Move on to Something Other Than Covid

The Monmouth Poll was very indicative of where the country stands on Covid, vaccines, and mask mandates.  For example, only 38% of those polled were concerned about a family member becoming seriously ill from Coronavirus, as opposed to 60% from a year ago.  Further, when people were polled on whether or not they were concerned about getting one of the new variants, if you combined the not too concerned and not concerned at all answers, it was a full 50% that were not concerned with new Covid variants.  In addition, a full 60% of those polled thought we wouldn’t get the Covid virus under control by the end of the year or never.  The poll also shows us how Biden’s approval rating has flip flopped for the first time, with only 43% approving his handling of Covid, vs 53% who disapprove.  This all points to a majority of Americans who are just done and over with Covid and want to move on.

Let’s End the Mandates and Live Our Lives

Nationally, cases of Covid have dropped dramatically in the last week alone, with 686,000 reported on January 24th vs 386,000 January 31st.  This also includes deaths and hospitalizations, though some believe there will be a natural spike in deaths, in the next week, as those hospitalizations decline.  Even Republican Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell, who supports vaccination, but is hard fast against vaccine mandates and passports, believes the time has come for the nonsense around Covid to end.

“Across the country, bureaucrats are still forcing young children to wear masks to participate in society when neither kids nor vaccinated adults are remotely likely to get gravely ill.  What exactly are we doing here? Where are the goalposts? What is the end game?  The virus appears to be heading endemic.  It’s time we accept that COVID is here to stay and we just need to get on with our lives.  Disturbingly, whether or not we should trust the science and reclaim normalcy is somehow becoming a partisan question.  Millions of Democrats have decided that organizing their lives around COVID is core to their identity as progressives.”

Yet, we still have States like California who are arbitrarily imposing mask mandates on kids, while the Governor is partying maskless at a football game, New York City still won’t allow you indoors anywhere without your vaccine papers, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul has extended the school mask mandate until March 1st, even though she stated that it looks like the current Omicron surge is coming to an end.  However, the mask mandates for private businesses will end February 10th in New York State.  Where’s the logic in that?  Kids will be taking their masks off at home, when they go to a supermarket, or to a movie with their friends where they could be infected, but as soon as they hit the school doors…Covid knows where the line is, because the kids are masked.  So stupid.  If Kathy Hochul was so concerned about kids spreading the virus, then why not have a uniform ending of the mask mandate?  It isn’t about common sense though, is it…it’s about continually extending the goal posts and keeping those reigns of control.  Governors in States like New York, California, and Illinois, give their constituents hope by saying “it looks like we might see an end to the vaccine and mask mandates soon if the current trends hold”, to only extend them once the new goal has been met.  By that time, a new variant emerges, and it’s the end of times again.  They have no intention of letting go of their power.

Let the Covid Reign Go and Let the Country heal

And then we have those in the tech world of social media who are diametrically opposed to free thinking Americans who dare challenge the status quo, and are silencing them through censorship of their speech, and labeling it misinformation.  Almost every social media platform, now labels any post that dares oppose and question the approved and sanctioned speech on Covid, with misinformation, and then provides us with a link to sanctioned information, that will make sure we are conforming.  These big tech giants are doing more harm than good, and will end up only further emboldening Americans that are told they can’t speak freely.  Just this week, Joe Rogan and forced to address the “controversy” around guests that he has had on his podcast, that dared educate his audience on vaccines.  Has beens like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, were crying over the fact that Rogan was spreading misinformation around the safety of vaccines.  They threatened Spotify with removal of their music, along with other musicians who decided to join the band wagon, and remove their music as well.  These celebrities are so stupid, that they don’t realize what the consequences of their actions are going to be.  As a result of their anti free speech stances, they have forced Spotify to place warnings and labels about Covid misinformation, as well as other codes of conduct, that will target everyones free speech on Spotify.  Those righteous celebrities are going to be subject to the same scrutiny as Joe Rogan, and I can’t wait.  But, in the end, Rogan ultimately apologized for something he didn’t need to apologize for in the first place.  Along with Joe Rogan, Michelle Malkin and her husband were banned from AirBnB for exercising their free speech rights, and Radio host Dan Bongino was permanently banned from YouTube for the same reason.  So, are 70% of Americans fed up with Covid and the toll it’s taking on our society…you bet they are.  The results of that poll will only climb higher, as more and more Democrats and Independents get just as fed up as the rest of us.  Whoever is running our country needs to let this Covid reign go, and let our country heal, before it’s too late.
