Setting the Example

Setting the Example

Ron DeSantis is absolutely setting the example for all governors across America.  He talks the talk and walks the walk.  In just the last week alone, never mind the last two years, DeSantis has proven how a State can and should be run by signing into law legislation that protects the integrity of elections, protects the lives of the unborn, and has shown a large corporation, Disney, that the government of Florida runs Florida, and not Disney.  On Wednesday, Florida’s Senate passed bill SB 4-c, which strips Disney of its self governing status it has enjoyed since 1967.  If passed in the house, and ultimately signed by DeSantis, which he is expected to do, it would make privileges Disney benefits from the Reedy Creek Improvement Act, null and void June 1st, 2023.  In addition, DeSantis has signed a law banning abortion after 15 weeks, and an election integrity law that would, among other things, make it a felony to possess more than two ballots.  This is actual progress that the Federal government should be following.

Disney’s Self Governing Days in Florida Are Over

The catalyst for Florida’s Senate and House pushing bills through, that would eliminate Disney’s special privileges, was Disney’s vow to get Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill repealed.  A bill that bans educators from teaching about sexual orientations and gender identities to kids 9 and younger.  Disney adamantly came out against the bill, saying that it was potentially harmful to members of the LGBTQ+ community, including their own employees, and have rallied against Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida legislature ever since it was signed into law.  Florida decided it wouldn’t be bullied by a giant corporation like Disney anymore, and decided to push back, with Governor Ron DeSantis calling a special session of the Florida Legislature, to pass bills that would strip Disney, as well as 5 other districts of their “special status”.  One bill has already passed in the senate, and a house bill is expected to follow very quickly, with DeSantis ready to sign, making Disney’s self governing status in Florida null and void as of June 1st 2023.

Disney Will Lose Some of the Secretiveness They are Famous For

Disney has enjoyed special privileges like levying taxes, having its own building authority, EMT services, police department, and fire department, among other things, while other entities like Universal Studios, have had to follow the rules and laws of Florida’s government just like everyone else.  Disney actively campaigning against a State government that it lives in, for a law that aims to protect parents’ rights over their children…Disney’s customer base…is equivalent to the old saying to “don’t s**t where you eat”.  Disney has done just that, or as Florida State representative Randy Fine said, “When you kick the hornet’s nest, sometimes issues arise”.  Without their self governing special privileges in Florida, Disney has just made their lives more complicated.  It’s going to be harder to get construction projects done in a timely manner, they will be subject to the rules and laws of the local counties they reside in, and will potentially face more intrusive scrutiny.  Disney, famous for its secretiveness, having outside entities not under their purview poke around in their business, would be an unwelcome change.

Ron DeSantis Represents How Most Americans Feel

Ron DeSantis is representing the majority of Americans by bringing the hammer down on Disney, for standing against the rights of parents and their kids, but has also in his spare time, protected election integrity and the rights of unborn children.  Senate bill 524, which DeSantis signed into law this week, makes possessing more than two voter ballots a felony, with a $50,000 fine and up to five years in prison, requires election supervisors to clean up their voter rolls annually, and imposes fines for involuntarily switching someones party affiliation without their knowledge.  DeSantis also signed an abortion ban after 15 weeks, with the only exception being if a fatal fetal heartbeat is detected, saying that while the left in Washington DC and Hollywood promote abortion up to nine months, Florida is going to stand up against that.

“If you look at what’s going on in certain segments of our society, particularly amongst people who are affiliated with the far left of our political spectrum, of course that’s over represented In places like Hollywood, in the media, and one of our major political parties, but they are taking the position, that babies can be aborted up to the ninth month”, DeSantis said.  “That is just fundamentally wrong, that is infanticide”, he would add.

The Governor Florida Voters Need

Ron DeSantis is proving that if you govern sensibly, protect your citizens, protect election integrity, and open up the free markets and capitalism, your State is going to thrive.  Not only, is he setting the example for other States, he’s also setting the example for our Federal government.  DeSantis is a no nonsense governor who will fight for what’s right, including taking on a big corporation like Disney, which in the past, would have been considered taboo.  That example alone, shows how Disney’s political ideologies don’t mesh with the majority of America, and how Florida, sticking up for families, and winning the argument, is the consensus.  DeSantis is knocking it out of the park with no end in sight, firing on all cylinders, and has the majority of Florida’s voters on his side.  DeSantis might not be the governor Disney wants, but he is the governor Florida voters need.
