Ron DeSantis Just Upped the Ante

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just upped the ante in its ongoing feud with Disney. Disney World, which resides in Orange County, is self governed thanks to the Reedy Creek Improvement Act instituted back in 1967.  This has allowed Disney to operate autonomously in Disney World and its surrounding properties, by being allowed to to do such things as levy taxes and approve its own construction projects.  That self autonomy may now be in trouble, as Ron DeSantis has officially called a special session to try and strip that autonomy away from Disney. Florida came under fire in the last month, with its Parental Rights in Education Bill, which bans educators from teaching kids as young as 4, about sexual orientation and gender identity. Disney CEO Bob Chapek, failed to respond appropriately to the bill’s opposition from the LGBTQ+ community, and has tried to make up for it by vowing to get the bill repealed.  Ron DeSantis has basically said enough is enough, and will not stand for the House of Mouse bullying the Florida State government, nor the indoctrination of little kids in the classroom.

Ron DeSantis Has Had Enough

In 1967, Florida successfully wooed Disney into building its next venture in Florida, by creating the Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which allowed Disney to levy its own taxes, have its own EMT services, police department, fire department, approve its own construction projects, and basically self govern without the interference of Florida government.  Disney has also enjoyed special tax loopholes, that have benefitted the company for decades which, if their woke cult inside the company would pay attention to, might actually invite their ire.  But that’s an argument for another day.  Disney has fueled and encouraged a child indoctrination narrative, not only in its forthcoming programming, but has vowed to fight the State of Florida to repeal the Parents Rights in Education bill.  Disney has falsely claimed, that the law fosters a discriminatory atmosphere against the LGBTQ community, when in fact, its only aim is to allow parents to decide what their young children are being taught in the classroom.  Ron DeSantis has had enough, and so has the Florida State legislature apparently.  They have met with DeSantis on several different occasions, expressing their interest in repealing the Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which would essentially strip Disney of all of its privileges in Florida, and be forced into the jurisdiction of the surrounding Orange and Osceola counties.

Disney is Now the Brand of an Anti-Family Left Wing Agenda

In a series of videos revealed by journalist Christopher Rufo, Disney executives upped their commitment to a minimum of 50% LGBTQ+ representation in their children’s content.  Which if you go back and investigate their content for kids, is already filled with inappropriate content that kids shouldn’t be watching.  For example, Disney hosted a pride parade last year on their streaming channel, that featured Kermit the Frog and a drag queen.  On their toddler focused Disney Junior channel, in a show called ‘Rise Up Sing Out’, they had an episode that featured a lesson on micro aggressions in the classroom and how to deal with racist conversations, apparently with other toddlers.  And last May, Disney announced a reboot of ‘Proud Family’ which featured a racial activist high schooler and her two gay dads.  Why does Disney think it’s appropriate to show kids this kind of material?  Because they think LGBTQ+ is the norm, because Disney lives in a bubble of East and West coast politics, when in fact it’s the exact opposite in the rest of the country that disagrees with them.  Disney executives committing to more LGBTQ+ content in their children programming, is proof positive, that Disney has been infiltrated by an anti family left wing agenda.

Disney Has Poked the Proverbial Bear and Pissed Off Parents

Disney had it all, and in one fell swoop, has managed to risk all of that, over a law that aims to protect children ages 4-9, from being taught about sexual orientation and gender identity.  You would think Disney would be all for that, I mean after all, they claim to be a safe environment for kids of all ages.  But now, Disney’s “not so secret gay agenda”, is out in the open for for everyone to see, and Disney has been exposed for the frauds that they are.  Parents across the country, as well as the Florida State government, will not allow this insidious indoctrination of children.  Ron DeSantis, in calling this special session of the State legislature, has threatened Disney’s autonomy, by potentially taking away all of their special privileges.  If that happens, it’s a costly mistake of Disney’s own making.  It bears to be seen if DeSantis and the legislature will actually be able to put Disney in check with its open and honest indoctrination of kids, but the wind is at their backs.  The climate for woke ideologies, especially towards kids, has poked the proverbial bear in parents across the country, and Disney has just made themselves the anti-kids and parents poster child.
