Hollywood has an addiction and wokeness is its name. This fascination with rebooting well established franchises in the name of diversity, has become an obsession that only results in financial failure and the turning away of loyal fans. I don’t think I can name one diversity laden franchise that the fans haven’t summarily turned their backs on. Quantum Leap, Doogie Howser, Ghostbusters 2016, Charlie’s Angels, The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Terminator: Dark Fate, Pinocchio, The Eternals, The Wonder Years, etc, etc. The list goes on and on and on. For years, these “diversified” perversions of well established characters have failed miserably one after the other, yet Hollywood obsessively still produces these failures thinking for some insane reason that audiences will glom on to them. Or for the very same reason, that audiences will surrender to their activist point of view. Isn’t doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result the very definition of insanity? But here we go again apparently. The 90’s hit ‘The X-Files, might be its next victim, with a rumored Ryan Coogler (Black Panther director)heading up the diversity driven reboot. Hollywood has a sickness that it’s trying to infect everyone with through its diversity messaging. It’s not working and if there’s any truth to the X-Files reboot, it will fail just as miserably as all of the other woke reboots.
Fans Will Always be Turned Off by Activist Politics in Their Entertainment
As always with these reboots, diversity is the focus rather than the story. It’s a sinister ploy to try and get audiences to comform to a political point of view. The thing that creators, directors, and writers have forgot, is that the majority of the movie going audience will always be turned off by activist politics in their entertainment. Unless it’s a political thriller like ‘The Parallax View, Star Chamber, or All the President’s Men, which specifically focuses on the politics, it will never work. It’s just a fact and fans will always walk away. Studios have forgotten that the main reason audiences go to the movies or watch a TV show, is to forget about the politics or stresses of the day. But instead, we are inundated with messages about white supremacy, BLM, LGBTQ awareness, climate change, and racism. And if that weren’t enough, fans are then subjected to race and gender swapped characters that serve to affirm these activist creators’ personal beliefs.

Just Another Notch in Disney’s Woke Belt
Disney is a prime example and king of the race and gender swapped reboot. They have done it with almost all of their well established characters. All for the sake of appeasing a few woke activists within the company while simultaneously propagandizing their audiences with a banner of diversity and inclusion. But their audience isn’t dumb, and all it has resulted in, is one abysmal failure after another. The X-Files would be just another notch in Disney’s belt of franchises they have perverted, contorted, and gave a death sentence to if the rumors of a reboot with a more diverse cast are true.
You Know it Will be Bad if They Use the “Diversity” Tagline
If the X-Files is in fact rebooted and treated the same way as all these other diverse, race and gender swapped franchises have been, it’s failure will be set in stone before the first episode hits the air. Of course this is all speculation because all we have to go by is an interview X-Files creator Chris Carter had on the podcast On the Coast with Gloria Macarenko, in which he stated that he had a conversation with Ryan Coogler about the X-Files reboot.
“I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast. So, he’s got his work cut out for him because we covered so much territory,”
Again, this seems like rumor and speculation and I have my doubts that a reboot would actually be made. But why even specify that it would have a diverse cast? I watched the X-Files…there was a diverse cast. The head of the FBI was black. There were many instances of diversity, but it was never a focus of the story. So if Ryan Coogler is really making an X-Files reboot with a more “diverse” cast, who is he making it for? Not the fans. Just by predicating a reboot with a diverse cast, you’ve already alienated half your audience. Look what happened to the rebooted Quantum leap. The ratings are pathetic because their focus was on how diverse their cast was instead of focusing on what made Quantum Leap magical in the first place.
Stop Destroying Franchises and Leave Well Enough Alone
I loved the X-Files. It had everything rolled into one that anyone would want in a TV series. It had subterfuge, suspense, action, drama, mystery, science fiction and fantasy elements, and fed into a distrust of the government that Americans have always had. Chris Carter brought to light a show that wasn’t afraid to ask the questions about our government that we all wanted to hear, and we got to see it dramatized every week. It was great. So why taint it with a reboot that will promote its diverse cast as a focus rather than the story? Because the message with these Hollywood sycophants always takes precedence. Their righteous indignation of what came before continues to lessen what made these franchises successes in the first place. Stop hijacking the fans’ favorite franchises and test the waters with new diverse characters and stories of your own and leave ours alone. The X-Files was a TV series masterpiece that was created through passion and great storytelling. In no way should it be rebooted because for some asinine reason some studio and director thinks it needs to be told through a more diverse cast.
