Bill Maher is Right

I don’t agree with Bill Maher on much, but lately, he’s been making some sense, especially on American freedoms.  During his monologue on his latest ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’, Maher pointed out the absolute ridiculousness of celebrities and American companies, who won’t or can’t criticize China for their human rights abuses.  I agree, and Bill Maher is right on this.  They won’t criticize China, because they benefit monetarily from China’s investments in our entertainment, and 1 billion plus citizens, who purchase or watch their products.  American citizen Eileen Gu, for example, who was born and raised in America, but decided to ski for the Chinese team during the Olympics, or LeBron James, who told Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey, that he needed to be re-educated, because Morey had the gaul to stand with freedom for Hong Kong, or Tom Cruise, who proudly wore the Taiwan flag on his Maverick jacket in the original Top Gun, but has now mysteriously disappeared from the jacket for the sequel, or John Cena, who cried and begged like a little girl for forgiveness to the Chinese Government, for referring to Taiwan as a country, are all examples of how big corporations and Hollywood, dare not criticize the Chinese regime over fears of losing billions of dollars in revenue or investments.

Hollywood and Leftist American Companies are Morally Dishonest

The left and Hollywood celebrities lose the argument that America is evil, when you have a tyrannical dictatorship like China, making citizens like tennis star Peng Shuai “disappear”, after she made controversial comments about a sexual assault from an ex prime minister, only to have Shuai reappear and deny she ever said anything, or jailing an entire ethnic minority known as the Uyghurs, and subjecting them to horrific conditions and abuses.  Incidentally, Disney’s ‘Mulan’, was filmed near one of these prison camps in Xinjiang.  Did Disney decry these human rights abuses in China?  Not a peep.  Instead, they thanked the publicity department of CPC Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region committee in the credits. Bill Maher makes the point, that while it was advantageous for athletes, corporations, and celebrities, to shout about freedoms and abuses during the riots and protests of 2020 here in America, where was the outcry against human abuses from China during the Olympics?  Where is the condemnation of a communist dictatorship, that has taken away a lot of Hong Kong’s democracy, when they were promised it wouldn’t be taken away?  Where was the criticism of China over releasing the Covid virus on to the world?  Crickets.  Google used to point out China’s evil, before they realized that they were making a ton of money as a platform in China.  And that’s the whole point.  Hollywood and big corporations hypocritically keep mum about human rights abuses in countries like China, while denouncing America as somehow equivalent to those same abuses.  It’s absurd and morally dishonest.

Celebrities and American Companies Kowtow to China’s Influence

In America, you still have freedom of speech and will not be prosecuted for it.  The same can’t be said for China, who silences and censors their citizens on a daily basis.  So why would American companies and celebrities like John Cena for example, be obedient to a country that doesn’t believe in freedom.  Because they are financially benefitting from China’s influence.  As Bill Maher puts it, these celebrities and American companies are Kowtow’ing to China’s influence.

“Kowtow is a Chinese word, but boy Americans have gotten good at it.  For years, Google proudly refused to Kowtow to Chinese censors, adapting the slogan, “Don’t be Evil”.  But the Chinese market proves so lucrative, that, well..okay a little evil.  That’s the deal China offers American companies and celebrities.  We’ll give you access to our billion plus consumers, as long as you shut up about the whole police state genocide thing.”

China’s Influence in Our Entertainment and Sports Makes Their Product Dishonest

Related: John Cena Cowers to China

American companies and Hollywood are lazy and disingenuous when they criticize America for human rights abuses, while ignoring China, who is the biggest criminal of human rights abuses.  When an athlete and influencer like Eileen Gu, who benefits in the tune of millions, for competing for a country that mentally and physically abuses its citizens, and censors their every waking moment, can ignore an evil government like China because she wants to make a quick buck, is just being cowardly and dishonest.  When John Cena, apologizes profusely, in Mandarin, to the Chinese government for having the audacity to refer to Taiwan as a country, you are a coward.  When Tom Cruise can’t wear the flag of our democratic ally Taiwan on his bomber jacket, you know you are bought and paid for by China.  Chinese big tech company Tencent, is co-producing Cruise’s Top Gun Maverick movie.  Coincidence…I think not.  The NBA has a multi billion dollar contract with China.  You don’t think that they are influenced or censored in what they are allowed to say?  Of course they are, or they would risk losing all that capitol.  Pathetic.  So, why LeBron James is preaching to us about equality and racism in America, he’s willfully choosing to ignore the greatest abuser of human rights in the world.  Bill Maher said it perfectly at the end of his monologue, when he said that someone had to tell him where we got the rule that you couldn’t criticize China.

“Someone has to tell me where we got this rule that you can’t criticize China, because I suspect we got it from China.  Because after all, it’s where we get everything else.”

Bill Maher is Right

Bill Maher is right about China and its influence.  He’s right about some celebrities and companies hypocritical stance on human rights abuses, while ignoring China’s because they make a profit from not standing against China.  To people like LeBron James, Eileen Gu, John Cena, and the NBA, it’s convenient, easy, and expedient to criticize America.  While across the Pacific Ocean, you have a tyrannical country like China, forcing its will on its people every day, without the freedom and choice to make their own decisions.  It would be “stunning and brave” if these celebrities and companies actually had the guts to stand up to China’s censorship and human rights abuses…but they won’t.  This is why the average American doesn’t believe anything Hollywood, the NBA, or Google has to say when it comes to racism or human rights abuses, because we know they don’t really mean what they say.  Their words are backed by China’s influence, making them hollow and untrue.
