With the revelation, from CBR via a Reddit post, that Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye, was passing the torch to Kate Bishop, Kevin Feige wasn’t kidding when he said he wanted to infuse representation into the MCU. Feige has gone full bore on making sure there are no longer leading men in the MCU. With Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye coming to Disney Plus in November, Dr. Strange more than likely being killed off in ‘Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, and Thor being replaced by Jane Foster in ‘Thor Love and Thunder’, the circle will be complete and no longer will there be any white male leads at Marvel Studios. Sure there’s Spider-man, but he’s a Sony property and Sony doesn’t seem to care about what race, color, or sex you are. That seems to be a Kevin Feige obsession.
“Ike does not believe that anyone will go to a female-starring superhero movie”
Kevin Feige has been at this for a long time. Back in 2012 before the first Avengers movie came out, Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk, did an interview with the Independent, in which he revealed that Kevin Feige told Ruffalo, that he might quit Marvel because of the lack of female representation.
“When we did the first Avengers, Kevin Feige told me, ‘Listen, I might not be here tomorrow.’” He was going to talk to Disney about the issue of why there were no female superhero movies, which they had been discussing while preparing for Thor: Ragnarok. “And he’s like, ‘Ike does not believe that anyone will go to a female-starring superhero movie. So if I am still here tomorrow, you will know that I won that battle.’”
Well, Kevin, Ike(Ike Perlmutter once CEO of Marvel Studios) is probably right in the sense that the way you are going about it is deceitful and forceful, using characters that no one cares about or asked for. ‘Captain Marvel’ was a failed character in the comics with no less than 8 titles that no one bought. Feige will claim that ‘Captain Marvel was a success and was only a success because you manipulated it that way. ‘Captain Marvel’ was purposely placed between ‘Avengers Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers Endgame’. In addition, at the end of ‘Avengers Infinity War’, we were given an extra credit scene that implied we needed to see ‘Captain Marvel’ to get additional clues as to what was going to happen in Endgame. Well, all we got was Captain Marvels’ introduction to the Avengers…very sly indeed Mr. Feige. So, ‘Captain Marvel’ was set up and padded for success.
‘Captain Marvel’ Would Have Been a Dud if it Weren’t For Infinity Ware and Endgame
Kevin Feige and Marvel Comics have been setting up this takeover of Marvels established characters since the release of ‘Avengers’. Marvel Comics has been collaborating with Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios for almost a decade now. They are doing it, and any loyal fan knows this, to say that what the audience is seeing in the MCU is reflective of what is happening in the comics. It’s cute and it’s convenient but it’s malicious. But, at the same time, it is working…especially with the Normies who might not be that educated on the history of the Marvel Universe. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a conversation with a standalone fan of the MCU about the epic unimportance of ‘Captain marvel’ , and, when they are shown the receipts of what a failed character she is, they are dumbfounded. But this is Kevin Feige’s target audience…and for the most part he has succeeded…until now. But that’s a story for another day.
Kevin Feige and Marvel Comics Have Been Planning This For a While Now
Marvel Comics has introduced female versions of their male counter parts for the last seven years or so, resulting in utter flops that have only disappointed the fans. Thor was replaced by by Jane Foster in 2014’s ‘Original Sin’ storyline which had Thor too weak to wield Mjolnir and so Jane Foster came to the rescue and became the new Thor. Jane Foster’s Thor was an absolute failure sales wise so Marvel ultimately brought back the original Thor. Riri Williams AKA Ironheart was introduce back in 2016 in ‘Invincible Iron’ man Vol 2 #7. She was a character created by Brian Michael Bendis(The destroyer of all things good in comics)that was just thrown in out of nowhere and then suddenly replaced Iron Man after he was placed in a coma following the events of Civil War II #8…fans were not happy. Kate Bishop, whose character will be replacing Clint Barton’s Hawkeye in the upcoming Disney Plus series, was first introduced in Young Avengers in 2005. She would be seen more prominently alongside Clint Barton in 2012’s ‘Hawkeye’ and 2015’s ‘All New Hawkeye’ and then in her own series in 2016 which failed and was cancelled after 16 issues. Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye will also have a self titled comic book to coincide with the release of the Disney Plus series. Loki was replaced by a female Loki in the Disney Plus series ‘Loki’ in which the entire show made the original Loki a pathetic shell of his former self. Taskmaster was replaced, very deceptively, with a woman in “Black Widow’. Captain America was replaced by Sam Wilson AKA Falcon in ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, which, in my opinion, is an insult to the character of Sam Wilson and the character of Falcon. The Eternals have replaced a male character with a member of the LGBTQ community. Kevin Feige didn’t allow Dr. Strange to appear in ‘WandVision’ because Wanda would have been over powered by “a white guy”. And it’s looking like Ant-Man is going to be a comedic side kick in his own series with Wasp taking center stage.
Kevin Feige Wasn’t Kidding
Kevin Feige was completely serious in his determination to inject female inter sectionalism and SJW politics into the MCU. In an interview back in July with Rotten Tomatoes, Feige completely doubles down on his intentions and uses Marvel Comics as his foundation in doing so.
“The comics has charted the path in almost all ways for what we do in the MCU. And in the comics there are many LGBTQ characters and we want to showcase that on the screen as well…we want to bring those characters to life on the screen. We also, as Stan Lee used to say, “Marvel represents the world outside your window”, and outside our window there are all different types of people, in all different types of places, with all different types of preferences and we want that reflected in the MCU and in our fictional world as it is in our real world. So, it’s of utmost importance, when people go in and see one of our films, or log into Disney Plus and watch one of our series, that it represents the true world outside their window when it comes to the type of people portraying the people and characters.”
The problem with what Kevin Feige says is that the real world he is talking about is a fictionality based on SJW loud mouths on Twitter who don’t represent the majority of the fans. SJW’s for the most part, don’t even read the material they complain about and want changed. The majority of comic book fans are males in their 40’s and 50’s that just want to escape into a comic book and have some fun. Kevin Feige is not representing them and choosing to side with an irrational SJW crowd that doesn’t care whether the characters we grew up on fail. Feige is pandering to a Twitter crowd and using the MCU as his own political platform in hopes that that will translate into box office success. ‘Black Widow’ was a box office failure in MCU terms, ‘Shang-Chi’ is a dud, ‘The Eternals’ is going to be delayed as a result, and all of the new Disney Plus TV shows are proving to have no re-watchability. Kevin feigns formula to replace all of our white male superheroes and have an all female M-She-U is almost complete but is showing cracks in the foundation. Stan Lee did say that “Marvel represents the world outside your window”. But, Kevin Feige needs to look a little further outside his window and represent what the fans want or his new vision of an all female led MCU is going to fail rather quickly.
