The Moderna vaccine, halted in five countries in the last week, have limited or stopped the use of the vaccine due to the potential for myocarditis or pericarditis in young males. Sweden will no longer offer the Moderna vaccine for anyone born after 1990, Finland is pausing the vaccine for males under 30, Denmark has restricted access to the vaccine for anyone under 18, Norway has only urged people under the age of 30 to opt for the Pfizer vaccine instead, and Iceland has joined the fray and completely stopped use of the vaccine altogether. The connection between inflammation of the heart and its lining was shown to be more prevalent in the Moderna Spikevax vaccine, and the second doses, but has been seen with the Pfizer Bio N Tech vaccine as well.
The Risks Are Still Small But Precautions Were Taken Anyway
All five countries have taken the action of pausing, stopping, or restricting the Moderna vaccine due to a study from Sweden’s Public Health Agency and Iceland’s Health Directorate, that has found an increased risk in the inflammation of the myocardium, the heart muscle, and the pericardium, the lining of the heart. The study did state that the risks are still small but all five countries took precautions anyway. The pause on the Moderna vaccine for Sweden will last until December 1st. Moderna responded to the pause, by saying that the cases of myocarditis and pericarditis are rare and that getting Covid-19 is much riskier for those conditions.
“These are typically mild cases and individuals tend to recover within a short time following standard treatment and rest. The risk of myocarditis is substantially increased for those who contract COVID-19, and vaccination is the best way to protect against this.”
In addition to that, back in April, there were a number of countries that had restrictions on both the Astra Zeneca and Johnson and Johnson vaccines due to an increased risk of blood clots. There were 19 countries that had restrictions on the Astra Zeneca vaccine and three that suspended it outright. Three countries at that same time had restrictions on the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Is it any wonder then that people might feel a little hesitant about putting a foreign agent into their body, like the Pfizer vaccine, that in some part is still under an emergency use authorization and has itself been linked to severe side effects? But instead, we are seeing a push by the Biden administration, the federally funded CDC and the FDA to approve the Pfizer vaccine for every age group.
The Moderna vaccine is Just Another Example of the Hesitancy Some People Have With the Vaccines Overall
With over 15,000 people who have died from Covid vaccines and over 700,000 people that have had adverse reactions, maybe half the country who doesn’t want to be forced into taking these vaccines, have legitimate concerns. Maybe the unvaccinated would like these pharmaceutical companies to take a step back and do what they have done historically and produce something that has been thoroughly vetted and tested. The statement from the Moderna representative was typical and weak, but not unexpected. They are trying to protect an investment instead of fixing something wrong with their product. The Moderna vaccine is just an example of what is wrong with all of the Covid vaccines in general. When the vaccines were first announced it was like a race to see who would finish first. I’m sorry but in this case, I might trust the company who comes in dead last and cares more about quality than quantity. Sadly, that’s not any one of them.
